Description

Low Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that is timber-framed and rendered, with a plain tile roof. The building consists of three cells and a chimney bay, and it has two storeys plus an attic. There is an off-centre axial stack on the left side.

On the east facade, there is a timber post at the left quoin, with the ground floor of the chimney bay and central cell projecting forward. The ground floor features two and three-light casements, along with a doorway leading to the third cell. The first floor has three and four-light casements, with small fixed lights in the chimney bay. The left return has a colourwashed brick skin and a small lean-to, while the right return includes a one-and-a-half storey brick lean-to under pantiles, with the gable rendered.

The rear facade faces west, with the first cell having a two-light casement on the ground floor and a three-light casement on the first floor. The centre cell features French windows on the ground floor and a three-light casement on the first floor. There are 16th-century openings with lozenge wood mullions in the chimney bay and third cell, including a three-light casement on the first floor of the chimney bay, a four-light casement on the ground floor, and a seven-light casement on the first floor of the third cell. There is also a small opening in the ground floor of the chimney bay.

Inside, the west wall has timber studs, and there is a large fireplace in both the first and central cells, along with large floor tiles. The house was referred to as The King's House Hall in the 18th century.
