Description

This is an early 17th-century cottage located on the west side of The Street, Topcroft. It is a timber-frame building, now rendered, with a pantile roof. The cottage follows a three-cell lobby entrance plan. The facade presents four bays with a half-story, and has a rendered plinth. It features 20th-century casement windows, a 20th-century French window in the first bay, and a 20th-century porch in the third bay. Four gabled attic casements are visible. Axial and gable end stacks provide ventilation. A glass outshut extends from the rear. Inside, the timber frame is exposed. A blocked three-light window with ovolo moulding is found in the central room, alongside three similar blocked windows in the right-hand room. Further interior details include arched braces to the wall plate and a butt-purlin roof.
