Description
Holgate Farmhouse is a 17th-century timber-frame house. It was later roughcast and given applied sham timber framing. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with black glazed pantiles, and has gabled ends. A brick chimney stack is situated off-centre. The house extends over two storeys and an attic. There are three widely spaced windows: the ground floor windows are modern casements, and the first-floor windows are late 19th-century sash windows. A single wedge-shaped dormer lights the attic. A modern glazed door is located in front of the chimney stack. A one-bay gabled addition is attached to the east end of the building.
