Description
The Gables is a house dating from approximately 1840 to 1850, built in the Tudor style. The house is constructed of painted brick and stucco, with a steep slated roof featuring gables and shaped ridge tiles. It is two storeys high with an attic. The three bays are arranged with the outer bays projecting and being gabled. The windows are two-light wood mullion and transom windows with glazing bars, set in chamfered openings with dripmoulds. A central porch features octagonal turrets with ogee-shaped finials and crocketed pinnacles. The porch has a four-centred arched door with a dripmould and a fanlight above, incorporating three quatrefoil lights. To the left of the main house is an adjoining coachhouse, which is single-storied and gabled, with ornate shaped bargeboards and double doors. A two-light mullion and transom window is situated to the side of the coachhouse doors.
