Description
Number 1 St James Plain, known as The Parish Cottages of Ye Olde Chequers, is a 17th century cottage. It features a plastered timber frame and a steep pantile roof with gabled ends. The building is two storeys high and has four windows, which are casements with glazing bars. There are two plank doors, one of which has a wooden trellis porch. An off-centre brick chimney stack is present, and there is an outshut at the rear.
