Description
No. 33 High Street is a mid-19th century building constructed of red brick, featuring contrasting bands and details. It has a slate roof and is two storeys high with an attic. The building has coped parapetted gables at both the north and south ends, adorned with stone eaves and ridge finials.
The shopfront is notable for its good design, featuring semi-circular-headed windows and pilasters, with a central doorway. The first-floor windows are sash style, set beneath stone lintels. Above the window openings are pointed relieving arches made of 'polychrome' brick, with herring-bone brick infill in the spandrels. A central circular window is located in the attic.
There is a moulded string course at the eaves level, and an axial chimney stack is positioned off-centre to the south. The east and west elevations display moulded brick dentil eaves, while the sashes are topped with gauged arches. The low flank walls at the northeast and northwest corners end in square brick piers, which are capped with stone and topped with ball-finials.
