Description

The Church of All Saints and St Peter is a Grade I listed building, primarily dating from the 14th century. It is constructed of flint with ashlar dressings and features lead roofs. The church comprises a nave, north and south aisles, a west tower, and north and south porches, although the chancel has been destroyed. The clerestory windows are quatrefoils set within circles, while the north and south aisles contain 14th-century 2-light reticulated tracery windows, with similar 3-light windows at the east ends of the aisles. The large 14th-century west tower has diagonal buttresses at the west corners, a later rendered brick parapet, and 2-light bell openings, along with a prominent 3-light west window featuring reticulated tracery. The north and south porches are in the Perpendicular style, with the south porch having niches flanking the entrance.

Inside, the church has 4-bay north and south arcades, and a well-crafted arched brace nave roof with small collar-beams, along with a contemporary roof in the north aisle. There are notable late 15th-century benches, which are almost complete, located in the nave and aisles. The altar table and rails from the 17th century feature moulded balusters and finials, with a central gate. A 15th-century font is present, along with a 17th-century cover. The pulpit, dated 1613, incorporates earlier traceried panels. Additionally, some fragments of 14th-century stained glass can be found in the heads of the north and south aisle windows.
