Description

This building is a cartshed with a granary above, located about 50 meters southwest of Hall Farmhouse in Mannington. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and incorporates some earlier reused timber. The structure is built of Flemish bond red brick and features a red clay pantile roof with coped gable ends.

The cartshed is small and rectangular in plan, consisting of three bays, with a narrow fourth bay containing stairs leading to the granary above. The east elevation is open-fronted with three timber posts, and the half bay on the right includes a stair doorway. There are small square windows in the end gables, and the rear, or west, wall has no openings.

Inside, reused chamfered beams support the granary floor, which has an exposed boarded timber-frame front under the eaves. The granary features a lapped vertical board partition at the center and a roof structure with tenoned purlins, lapped collars, common rafters, and a ridge-board.
