Description

The Granary is a late 17th-century granary, originally situated opposite and to the west of the Guildhall in Blakeney, now converted into dwellings and shops. It is a long red brick range, stepped up the hill, with its north end facing the Quay. The building has steep pantile roofs with coped gables. It is two storeys in height and comprises a total of 14 bays. The windows are modern top-hung and without glazing bars. Number 6 has modern, projecting segmental-headed shop windows, while Nos 4 and 5 feature modern segmental-headed entrances. Nos 2 and 3 have modern first-floor doors accessed by wooden stairs. Number 2 incorporates a projecting gabled boarded hoist, now used as a room. Number 1 is a single-storeyed structure built of flint with brick dressings. The interior contains chamfered floor beams. Group value context: the building contributes to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
