Description
The dovecote, located approximately 30 meters southeast of Thornage Hall, dates back to 1728. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features a square shape with a hipped roof made of red and black glazed pantiles, topped with a square wooden glover. Each side of the dovecote has a moulded brick cornice and a moulded brick platband, which is plain on the north side. The north side also has a square shuttered opening that is blocked. A stone plaque on the south side is inscribed with "T A/1728." There is a small 4-centred stone arched doorway on the west side. The interior has a renewed roof and contains 20 tiers of holes on all four sides, with brick spokes projecting from each corner towards the center. The dovecote forms a group with Thornage Hall and the associated barns.
