Description
The Lodge is a house that dates from the mid to late 18th century, with a front section added to a 17th-century rear section. The front is made of red brick, while the rear is constructed from flint with brick dressings, topped with slated roofs. The building is two storeys high with attics and features two canted two-storey bays, each containing three sashes with glazing bars set under flat rubbed brick arches on both floors.
At the center, there is a wooden Doric doorcase with two half columns, an entablature featuring triglyphs, and a baseless pediment adorned with guttae. The door has raised and fielded reveals and soffit with a keystone, and it is partially glazed with glazing bars and a switch tracery fanlight above. A sash window with glazing bars is located above the door on the first floor. The eaves are parapeted with stone coping, and there are three dormers, each with sashes that also have glazing bars.
The roof is mansarded and hipped at the ridge level. The rear section of the house is three storeys tall, with flint and brick gables on the south side, indicating that this part may have originated before 1700. To the east, there is a two-storey wing made of brick and pantiles, featuring a hipped gable.
