Description
The building is a barn with an attached dovecote on the west side of the White House, dating from the 17th century. It is connected to the house by a 20th-century link and projects to the south. The barn is constructed of coursed flint with brick dressings and has a pantile roof, featuring five bays.
On the east front, there is a large central opening with a moulded brick cornice. Under the eaves, there are two rows of dove boles, which are separated by projecting courses of bricks. The two left-hand bays were added later, with straight back quoins, and the lines of the dove holes are stepped, although some dove holes are blocked.
The west front has an extended central porch doorway, with flint on the south side and brick on the north. There are continuous outshuts on the sides, with brick to the south and flint to the north. The north gable features a three-light late 20th-century casement window on the ground floor in an old opening, with a blocked opening close to the apex. Inside, there is a narrow brick threshing floor.
