Description
An architectural fragment located 12 metres southeast of the chancel of Mannington Church, this structure was assembled in the late 19th century by the 4th Earl of Orford, who died in 1894. It features a 15th-century porch arch set within a flint wall that has ashlar facing below. The arch consists of three orders beneath a hood mould; the inner arch is supported by slender round side shafts, while the front and rear orders display continuous double hollow chamfered mouldings. The rebated wall to the east includes a wide single light opening with a four-centred head, adorned with pierced trefoils in the spandrels. This structure is included for its group value.
