Description
Nos. 5 and 7 on High Street are early 19th-century buildings that stand two stories tall. They are made of stucco that is lined and painted, topped with a pantile roof and featuring a wooden eaves cornice. The front has four near-flush-frame sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance is marked by a Greek mutular Doric doorcase, which has fluted pilasters and triglyphs, set within a high arched panel. The doorcase also includes panelled reveals and a six-panel door. To the left, there is an early 19th-century projecting wooden shop front with rounded ends for No. 5, which has a central entrance flanked by slender fluted columns and pilasters. Inside, the buildings retain six-panel doors and mostly original mantels with roundels. Nos. 5 and 7, along with the ancillary buildings at Nos. 19 to 23 (odd) and the Arms House, form a cohesive group.
