Description
Corner House, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Public House, is an early 19th-century building located at 2 Staithe Street. It has an obtuse angle on plan with a splay at the corner. The first floor features two near-flush-frame sash windows and a blank panel in the center, all with segmental heads. The eaves cornice is supported by coupled brackets. There is one window on the splay at the first floor. The ground floor has a somewhat projecting 19th-century restaurant front with a flush frame window on the splay, a segmental-headed entrance to the right, and a window wing that includes a flush frame sash window and a parapet with small battlements. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles. Corner House forms a group with Nos 1 to 5 (odd).
