Description
Grove Farmhouse is a house dated 1782, as indicated by tie-irons on the left-hand gable. It is constructed of galleted flint with brick dressings and has a pantile roof. The building features an irregular plan and has a facade of two storeys with three bays, followed by a taller two-storey bay on the left. This taller bay has four-light casements on the ground floor, which are set under a segmental arch. There are brick quoins between this bay and the next, along with a doorcase that has polygonal columns and a cornice with dentils; the door itself is from the 19th century. The adjacent bays contain a two-light casement and a three-light casement in altered openings, both also under segmental arches. Some rendering has fallen off the extreme right of the facade, revealing a wooden door frame. The quoins on the right-hand gable are made of 16th or 17th-century brick. On the first floor, there are three cross casements under soldier arches, and all windows feature leaded glazing. The house has gable-end stacks. The owner possesses a datestone that is said to have been removed from the gable during restoration, which is dated 1591.
