Description
The boundary walls of the library grounds, located to the west and south, as well as those of the former burial ground, date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The west wall is made of red brick and features buttress piers that are flush with the plinth, with part of the wall having a rounded coping. It stands approximately 6 feet high. The south wall is likely from the 17th century and is constructed of carstone with a sloping coping. This wall also includes sections that are part of the old burial ground, which features a 17th-century headstone among others. The height of the south wall is also about 6 feet, but it has been somewhat lowered at the corner and has a flat stone coping. The former Methodist Church, Sunday School, Library, and the boundary walls form a cohesive group along with Nos 1 and 3 Railway Road.
