Description
The garden wall and gates at St Margaret's Vicarage, dating from the late 18th century, connect St Margaret's House and St Margaret's Vicarage. The wall is constructed of red brick and features a plinth course that ends in an ashlar set-off. It includes three recessed blind arches with round heads above and is topped with stone coping slabs. The wall slopes down at the northern end to meet the first of a pair of stone gate piers, which have chamfered corners and hipped caps. Between these piers are a pair of wrought-iron gates, featuring circular section verticals between plain stiles, along with a middle rail. Above the middle rail, there are two cross braces that intersect at a boss, and the verticals are topped with urn-and-spike finials. There is also a fixed identical gate located between the northern pier and the vicarage.
