Description
The Warehouse and Training Ship Vancouver is a late 18th-century building located on St Margaret's Lane in King's Lynn. It is constructed of gault brick with red and brown brick accents and features a pantiled roof. The building has a two-storey, seven-bay facade facing St Margaret's Lane, with a segmental-headed loading door positioned right of center on each floor. The windows are centre-hung casements with glazing bars, topped by segmental gauged skewback arches. A dentilled string course separates the two storeys, and there is a brick dentilled and saw-toothed eaves cornice. A pedestrian door on the extreme left provides access to the rear of Hampton Court. The rear elevation is similar to the front.
At the west end of the building, there is a two-storey extension from the early 19th century, featuring a red-brick first floor. The west front, which faces South Quay, is built of brown brick with red-brick dressings and has one first-floor loading door flanked by mullioned lap-glazed windows. The west front is divided into three bays, with the first floor designed similarly. The ground floor includes an inserted garage door to the right, set beneath a 20th-century concrete lintel, and an inserted window to its left. A parapet conceals the roof. This west extension serves as the Training Ship Vancouver for Sea Scouts.
