Description
No. 26 High Street is a shop and flat dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and features four bays. The shopfront, which is from the 20th century, is glazed and has a tile surround on both the right and left sides. A globe street lamp is mounted on a cast iron support to the south of the building. The tall shop fascia obscures the sills of the first-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars and gauged skewback arches. The upper floors also have similar sash windows. The second window from the left on each floor is blocked. There is a timber eaves cornice, and the parapet obscures the roof. Internal gable-end stacks are present, and the north gable is rendered and color-washed, as is the south gable-head.
