Description
The barn at Bradwell Hall Farm, originally built as stables with a hayloft, dates back to 1731. It is constructed of brick and features a pantile roof. The brickwork displays a diamond diaper pattern using burnt headers throughout. The north side has been modified to include a garage opening, which is lined with breeze blocks and supported by a steel lintel. The east gable has four segmental-headed windows and prominently displays the date "S.K. 1731" in large raised brick numerals. There is noticeable tumbling in both gable heads. Access to the hayloft is provided from the south side via 20th-century steps leading to a sloping entrance through the eaves dormer. Inside, the barn features heavy bridging beams and chamfered joists, with the roof supported by principals carried on arched braces from tie beams, along with two tiers of staggered butt purlins and collars.
