Description
Ashtree Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and later, with significant alterations. It is constructed from flint and brick, featuring red brick dressings around the openings and a steeply-pitched roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, comprising a two-storey and attic front range, and a 1½ storey rear range.
The front elevation has a range of five irregularly-spaced windows, which include 2, 3, and 4 light casements from the 19th and 20th centuries. The openings have been much altered, and there is a later off-centre gabled porch with a four-centred arched opening. The roof features two 'wedge' dormers, and the gables are parapeted and coped with tumbling-in.
On the rear elevation, there are two ground floor sashes with glazing bars and segmental heads, along with 19th and 20th century casements. The attic has two 'wedge' dormers and a chimney stack positioned between them. The lower wing is made of red brick and has two ground floor three-light casements, as well as a gabled dormer with a 3-light casement. There is a lean-to structure in the angle of the lower wing. The south gable features two ground floor sashes with glazing bars, and the first floor and attic have 4-light casements from the 20th century.
