Description
Thorpe Lodge, now serving as the Broadland District Council Offices, is a house built in the 1820s. It is constructed of brick and features a roof that is obscured by a parapet due to the removal of the third storey. The building has two storeys and a central block with five bays, showcasing sash windows beneath gauged skewback arches, complete with shutters. The central entrance is arched and includes an ironwork porch topped with ornamental railings. At the southwest corner, there is a full-height bowed extension that continues into the west facade. The ground floor features three French windows, while the upper floor retains sash windows as previously described. The building is adorned with a modillion eaves cornice beneath a hipped slate roof. Inside, there is a staircase with twisted balusters and decorated string risers. The southwest room on the ground floor boasts a decorated plaster ceiling and cornice, along with Ionic columns at the east end.
