Description
Crowshill is a former farmhouse dating from the 17th century and later. It features a rendered timber frame set on a tall brick plinth, with brick gable-ends—one rendered and the other built in English bond. The roof is covered with French pantiles. The building has been transformed into an L shape by adding a returned gable-end to the end bay of a former gutter wall. It stands two storeys high. The northwest gable-end has four original openings with chamfered reveals beneath rectangular hood-moulds, although the frames are modern. The northwest facade includes two 2-light and one 3-light casement windows, along with a modern door. At the rear, there are two surviving 18th-century windows with metal casements. The building has some 20th-century additions and two rebuilt stacks, each with two shafts and moulded brick bases that were once octagonal. Inside, there are some moulded bridging joists, original fireplaces featuring stucco ashlaring, moulded chamfers, and barred stops, as well as a decorative carved corbel supporting a bridging joist.
