Description
The White House is a house dating from the early 19th century and earlier. It features a main block made of gault brick with a slate roof and a red brick service wing topped with pantiles. The building is two storeys high and includes a cellar. The symmetrical three-bay facade is enhanced by giant pilasters with moulded imposts. It has sash windows with glazing bars set beneath skewback arches. The entrance is a semicircular headed doorway with two plain orders and a traceried fanlight above. The wide eaves are supported by plain paired brackets, and the roofs are hipped. The east facade has two bays designed in a similar style. To the west, there is an 18th-century red brick service wing featuring a dentil cornice and one remaining three-light mullion and transom window with a metal casement. A 20th-century extension has been added to the north.
