Description

The Forge is an early 19th-century building located in New Buckenham's Market Place. It features a timber frontage set on a brick plinth and is topped with a black glazed pantiled roof. The structure is one storey high and has a double stable door flanked by square windows with glazing bars, all situated beneath a weatherboarded outshut that has a gabled roof. To the right, there is a carriage entrance located below a sash window. The east wall has a brick return. The gabled roof includes a forge stack on the rear slope.

Inside, the forge has paired forges that rise to a central flue positioned below the stack. There is a central semi-circular arch between the forges, and the roof structure consists of a tie beam with two tiers of staggered butt purlins.
