Description

Hill Farm House is an 18th-century farmhouse located on the west side of The Street in Croxley. It is constructed of flint with gault brick dressings and has a plain tiled roof. The street front is of two storeys and four bays, and is limewashed. A black brick plinth runs along the base. A doorway is positioned to the right of centre, with two casement windows to the left and one to the right, all set within segmental brick arches. Four smaller casement windows are on the upper floor, each with a square head. A dentilated eaves cornice, made of brick, runs along the top of the front elevation. The roof is modern. The south gable features a red brick kneeler and an interior stack. Two 20th-century windows are set into the original openings on the south gable. The rear wall is of 20th-century brick and rendered. An additional range was built to the west in the later 18th century. This range has a single sash window with glazing bars on its farmyard front, and similar square-headed sash windows on its south front. The west range also has a dentilated brick eaves cornice.
