Description
South Acre Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the late 16th century and later. The building features brick that replaces a timber frame, with flint and brick dressings and pantile roofs. The earlier sections of the hall form an L-shaped plan to the south and west, while there are additions to the north from the 18th to the 20th century. The structure is two storeys high with attics. The 20th-century windows consist mainly of sash windows with glazing bars set beneath segmental arches. On the west side, there are fragments of the original timber frame. The principal facade faces east and includes a ground floor made of flint and brick, with a brick first floor. There is one surviving stud from the former frame and three bays of 20th-century sash windows with glazing bars. A modern panelled door is located in the southern bay. The hall features a fine, partially rebuilt axial stack with four octagonal shafts. The northern additions are not of special interest.
