Description
This pedestrian gateway, located approximately 70 metres northeast of Oxburgh Hall, dates from around 1830 and incorporates some re-used ashlar stone from the 13th century. The structure is primarily made of brick, featuring stone and moulded brick dressings. It has a 4-centred archway topped with a rectangular hood mould. Above the archway is a moulded gault brick shield displaying the initials H.M.B. The gateway is topped with a gable that has a moulded brick peak finial, and there are gabled buttresses on either side. At the rear, a pair of coping stones includes sections of a 13th-century respond adorned with triple roll mouldings and dogtooth ornament.
