Description

A semi-detached pair of houses built around 1826. They were constructed as part of Home Park Mills, which is not listed, by John Dickinson to provide accommodation for workers at the paper mill. The houses are built with a combination of rendered flint and red brick, and have a half-hipped tiled roof. They are two storeys and have an attic. The front has two windows. On the ground floor, the left-hand bay has a 16-pane sash window, and the first floor has a 9-pane sash window. The right-hand bay has 20th-century casement windows. All windows are recessed and have segmental heads. There are dentilled brick eaves. A central ridge stack features an oversailing course. Lean-to outshuts, set back, serve as entrances on both returns. Small sashes are located in the attic, with red brick facing on the right. The rear fenestration mirrors the front. A later extension has been added to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages were originally part of a planned group, arranged symmetrically with a 2:4:4:2 layout, and form part of Nos. 1 to 10 Home Park Cottages.
