Description
A row of four houses dating from approximately 1826, built as part of the Home Park Mills complex by John Dickinson to provide accommodation for workers in paper production. The cottages are constructed of rendered flint and red brick, with a half-hipped tiled roof. They are two storeys high with an attic. The front has a four-window arrangement, with two entrances centrally positioned. The ground floor windows are 16-pane sashes with segmental heads, while the first-floor windows are 9-pane sashes, all recessed. A dentil brick eaves course is present. Two hipped dormers, each with a horizontal sliding sash window, are located over the inner windows. Two ridge stacks have oversailing courses. Entrances are to be found in the left return and a lean-to addition on the right return. Small sashes are present in the attic, with the one to the right constructed of red brick. Lean-to outshuts are located at the ends and to the rear. The rear fenestration mirrors that of the front. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages form part of a planned group, arranged symmetrically with a 2:4:4:2 arrangement, and are associated with Nos. 1-6 and 11, 12 Home Park Cottages.
