Description

Pavilion Lodge at Childwickbury Stud is a single-storey building constructed from red brick, featuring decorative timber blind arcading on the outer walls. The hipped roof is covered in plain red ceramic tiles, with bonnet tiles at the hips and a brick chimney stack.

The building has a short layout consisting of two rooms. The east elevation displays a two-light casement window with glazing bars on the left and a timber plank door, now covered in plywood, on the right. The west elevation mirrors this with similar windows at both ends. The north side has one window, while the south side features a central door, also clad in plywood. The timber-framed arcading above the plinth consists of plain square posts at the corners and sides of the openings, all painted green. The intermediate posts are also green, with their upper sections being semicircular with turned mouldings painted white, leading to pointed arches that are painted white below the eaves. The intermediate rail at sill level is painted green.

Atop the roof, there is a glazed lantern with a hipped roof, which has exposed rafters at the eaves and a central ridge stack with oversailing brick courses and two tapered pots. The long sides of the lantern are illuminated by six three-light windows with vertical glazing bars, while the short sides have one four-light window.

Inside, the larger south room features a vertical boarded dado and a boarded ceiling beneath the lantern light. It includes a four-panelled door, a simple timber fire surround (with the fireplace now boarded over), a fitted cupboard to the right of the fireplace, and a red clay tiled floor. The smaller north room was not accessible but is likely similar and includes a fitted corner cupboard.
