Description
Breakspears is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating from the mid-17th century. It has a timber frame with painted and red brick casing and features a plain tile roof with a central red brick chimney stack. The building follows a lobby entrance plan and is two storeys high, with one bay on each side of the stack. There is a 20th-century rear extension that forms a T shape.
The front (south) side displays 17th-century brickwork on the ground floor, while the upper floor is likely made of 18th-century brick. There are three glazing bar casements in original openings, with the ground floor windows having segmental heads. Above the door is a small square two-light 17th-century casement. The door frame is made of oak and dates from the 17th or 18th century. Inside, there are staircases located at the rear of the stack and heavy chamfered floor beams on either side of deep inglenooks.
