Description

The Cross Keys Public House is a public house located at No 39 on the east side of High Street in Harpenden. It dates from the late 18th century and features a painted brick front, with an earlier timber frame core. The building has a plain tile gable end roof and stands two storeys high. It includes a floor band and dentilled brick eaves. There are three windows, with the left one being an early 19th-century addition. The central door is framed by a moulded wood surround, simple pilasters, and a cut bracket hood. On either side of the door are wide three-light casements with cambered heads, and the windows have 20th-century leaded lights.
