Description

The North Hertfordshire District Council Offices, formerly known as the Old Town Hall, are a monumental rectangular building of stone constructed in the mid-19th century by Bellamy, in the Italian style. The building features light rustication and horizontal bands at first-floor level. It has a massive cornice, developed with simple modillions, and a hipped slate roof. The facade has a five-by-three window arrangement, with the taller windows on the piano nobile embellished with hoods raised by a blank panel above their heads. A massive central entrance porch projects from the front.
