Description
The Foundry House is a mid-19th century house located in St. Ippollitts Village. It is built of grey brick and features a plastered soffit beneath the wide overhang of its steep hipped slate roof. The house is two stories tall and has a central passage with a double-pile, end-chimneys layout. It faces north and has a symmetrical front with two windows on each floor. There is a central recess of the same size above what was originally a doorway, which has been converted into a window. The recessed sash windows have 6/6 panes and are topped with flat gauged buff brick arches on both floors. There are small extensions added to the rear and west side of the house from the 20th century. The foundry associated with the house was established about a century ago, and the building is included for its group value.
