Description

Nos 36 to 38 on Bridge Street are two-storey cottages originally built around 1600, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The cottages are plastered and feature boxed wooden eaves supported by four broad carved and moulded consoles, topped by a steep tiled roof that includes square dormers. There are four windows on the ground floor, including a shop window, all of which have been restored. Notably, No 37 has a canted bay window on the upper floor, which may contain or replicate original work, as some timberwork beneath it suggests that the bay extended from the ground up into the roof. These cottages are part of a group with Nos 2 to 5.
