Description
This bridge, built around 1801 for Reverend William Lax, is located over Ippollitts Brook in the park, 160 meters to the east-north-east of St. Ibbs Lodge. It is constructed of stuccoed brick, with the north side made of red brick, which is not visible from the park. The bridge features three arches and is designed in a picturesque style, connecting the parkland between St. Ibbs, Reverend Lax's residence, and the church across the valley. It has buttresses and cutwaters flanking the central arch, with parapet walls that rise from circular piers at the ends. The central arch provides a humped trackway, while the side arches are purely decorative. The north side of the bridge functions as a weir to maintain the lake's water level.
