Description
No. 42 on Church Street is a building from the 18th century that has been altered in the 19th century. It features a front made of colour washed brick and has an old tiled roof that is hipped on the left and gabled on the right. The roof includes two box dormers and a bracketed cornice. The building has two storeys and attics, with four sash windows, two of which are triple light, set in reveals with narrow plain wooden surrounds that have cornices and ornamental covers for blinds. There is a six-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight in a panelled reveal, surrounded by an architrave with a cornice on consoles. To the right, there is an elliptically arched carriageway. The timber framework is exposed on the south side elevation. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 42, 44, 44A, and 50.
