Description

The Dower House is an early 18th-century house, extended and altered in the early 19th century, with later 19th-century additions to the east. The western part of the front facade was restored following flood damage in 1968. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond, with chequered black headers on the south front of the older section. The rear elevation has dark weatherboarding to the first floor. It features steep hipped roofs covered with old red tiles.

This is a large, irregular two-story house facing south, with lower wings extending along the road to the west and stepping down a sloping ground to the east. The main block has a double-pile plan and a two-story brick bay projecting to the rear at the northeast corner. A large internal chimney with two square shafts, linked by a recessed panel, is also present.

The south front has four windows and contains recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes and flat-gauged arches. A flush box sash window is located on the first floor to the left. The main entrance features an early 19th-century door with a flush panel, reeded surround, and corner blocks, sheltered by a trellis porch. A fielded panelled rear door and fielded panelled partition on the first floor are also present.
