Description
Rose View is a block of two houses, now functioning as one house, built in 1818 for Thomas Poynder, who owned the former kilns in the field behind. The building features a chequered pattern of red and black brick, complemented by a fine buff brick front. It has hipped slate roofs and a central red brick chimney. This small two-storey block is slightly set back from the road and faces east. At the rear, there is a hipped two-storey extension.
The front corners are deeply recessed, with lean-to single-storey porches that project to the front, although the south entrance has been altered to a window. The plans are handed, sharing a chimney, with the entrance positioned away from the fireplace. The symmetrical east front is flanked by pilaster strips and is shaded by overhanging eaves. There are two windows on each floor, with each window featuring a three-centred arch. The first-floor windows are two-light leaded casement windows with semi-circular heads for each light, while the ground floor has stepped three-light casement windows with similar semi-circular heads. The building also has a low plinth.
