Description
The North Barn at Lower Farm, located 35 metres north of the house, is a 17th-century barn. It features a tall five-bay timber frame and a steep half-hipped thatched roof oriented east-west. The barn has weatherboarding on the gable and lower part of the walls, with plaster above. There is a plastered half-hipped thatched porch projection on the south side, which is now blocked. In the middle bay, there are double doors opposite the porch. The north wall is weatherboarded and has a corrugated iron apron. The posts have heavy swept jowls, and there are long braces to the tie beams. The roof has slender scantlings with a clasped purlin design, collar, and queen struts. A modern shelter shed that is of no historic interest abuts the north side of the barn.
