Description

Aston Bury Farm House is a house built around 1907 by Forsyth & Maule for Vernon A Malcolmson. It features roughcast walls and steep handmade tile roofs. This large, two-storey house showcases a simple Arts and Crafts style influenced by local architecture. On the left side, there is a projecting gabled and jettied crosswing with a massive red brick chimney on the front slope of the roof where the wing meets the main structure. The roof descends between three additional large front gables, with the rightmost gable sloping down in a catslide. Each gable has one window on both floors, featuring 3-light and 4-light oak mullioned windows with leaded glazing set in iron casements. The central entrance has a part-glazed door. At the rear, there is a very large projecting red brick chimney. The house has V-shaped wooden rainwater gutters and wooden box downpipes. Inside, it includes oak beams and inglenooks, two staircases, and the eastern part was originally designed as a separate small house. The oak doors have latches, and the house is noted for its high quality, using local materials in a traditional manner.
