Description
Beeches Farmhouse is a late 16th century or early 17th century manor house that is timber framed and plastered on a brick base. It has an L-shape with a short kitchen wing at the rear and stands two storeys high with attics. The main block underwent alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries, and some internal fittings were removed to Brent Pelham Hall in the early 21st century. Notable features include three impressive 17th century chimney stacks, one at each end of the main block and one at the rear, each with three octagonal shafts topped with moulded caps. The end chimney stacks also contain attic windows with two-light brick moulded mullions, illuminating the attic that extends the full length of the main block. The front facade has a range of four windows on the upper storey, featuring three- and four-light leaded casements. The ground floor windows were altered in the 18th century, and there are bay windows at each end. The entrance features a six-panel door with a pediment head. Inside, the farmhouse includes a timber panelled dining room, 17th century decorative stone fireplaces, a timber spiral staircase, and 18th century raised and fielded panelling.
