Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church that originated in the mid-14th century and is constructed of flint. It underwent significant restoration in the 19th century. The nave was widened towards the south during the 14th to 15th centuries, although there are no remaining traces of any arcade. The large west window, dating from the late 14th century, is a prominent feature of the church. There is a small wooden bell turret located at the west end. Most of the windows are from the 14th century or have been restored in a 14th-century style. The south porch, which was rebuilt in the 19th century, was originally part of the east end of the chancel and a section of the south wall. Few original fittings remain, including a 14th-century piscina in the nave and some fragments of 14th-century glass in the south window of the chancel.
