Description
The coach house block at Mead Lodge, located 10 metres south of the house, dates from the early 19th century, as indicated on the Tithe Map of 1842. It is a two-storey structure with five windows, featuring white weatherboarding on the coach house range that faces south, with its gable end towards the lane. The ground floor next to the lane is constructed of grey brick, with one window above. The building has a projected bargeboard with a pendant and collar, and a steeply pitched slate roof adorned with a decorative ridge. A vane is positioned on a timber louvre set diagonally, topped with a pyramid-shaped roof made of fishscale slate. Above the off-centre door, there is a small gable over a window. To the left, a modern glass roof shelters the coach house doors. This picturesque coach house is prominently situated and forms part of a group with Mead Lodge, making it an interesting feature when viewed from the Stort Navigation.
