Description

Windyridge Farm is a lodge that was built around 1870 and has since been altered in the 1980s. It was designed by architect George Devey for Robert Smith of Goldings. The building features red brick in Flemish bond, with exposed studwork and roughcast plaster panels. It has gabled roofs covered with old tiles, which include ornamental pierced and fretted barge boards.

The structure is a single storey with attics and has a projecting gabled wing at the front that showcases the exposed studwork and a mullioned window. There is a 20th-century door located beneath an attic dormer. The north-west end has been rebuilt, replacing the original jetty, and includes 20th-century three-light casement windows on both the ground floor and in the attic. Additionally, there is one gabled casement dormer with scalloped barge boards on the front and rear of the left-hand attic room. At the rear, a tall chimney features an external chimney breast with three brick flues set diagonally and capped.

The interior has not been inspected. Despite the alterations, Windyridge Farm is representative of Devey's smaller-scale work, particularly in relation to the larger project of rebuilding Goldings mansion between 1871 and 1877.
