Description
Glen View and Moorlands is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with modifications made in the 18th century. The building has a tall two-storey structure that features a timber frame with plastering. The northern part, known as Moorlands, retains a weatherboarded dado. The roof is steep and covered with old red tiles, and it has an 18th-century modillioned cornice at the eaves on the eastern front.
The southern part, Glen View, has a large internal gable chimney, while the northern part features a small external gable chimney. There are two-storey lean-to additions at each end of the house, positioned below the eaves level. The Moorlands section has a 19th-century margin light sash window, along with wooden casement windows and plank doors that are placed under dripboards supported by shaped brackets. The Moorlands also includes a small lean-to porch that is tiled and has wooden casement windows with small panes. The house was subdivided unequally in the 19th century, which included the installation of new windows.
