Description
The South Barn at Meesdenbury Farm is a 17th-century barn constructed with a timber frame resting on a red brick sill. It is finished with dark weatherboarding and features a steep quarter-hipped roof, which is currently covered in corrugated iron. The barn has a tall, five-bay design and faces north, with swept-roofed double doors located in the middle. The structure includes jowled posts that are supported by long curved braces connecting to the tie-beams and arcade plates. The sills extend across the aisles to support the arcade posts, although the aisle posts do not have jowls. Inside, the roof is a clasped purlin type with collar trusses, and the arcade plates are joined using face-halved bladed scarf joints.
