Description
Malyons is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with a mid-19th century brick front. The building features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded at the rear, roughcast at the eastern end, and cased in red brick at the front. There is a red brick lean-to extension at the western end and a plastered lean-to kitchen at the rear. The steep half-hipped thatched roof extends down in catslides over the extension. This house is 1½ storeys high and has an internal chimney plan with three cells, facing south and built on what was once roadside waste land. The front elevation shows evidence of having been divided into two properties during the 19th century. It has two flush two-light casement windows under segmental arches, with similar windows in two dormers at the eaves above. There are also two half-glazed doors towards the outer corners, which are located under segmental arches. An old internal chimney is positioned slightly to the left of the center of the ridge. Additionally, there is an 18th-century two-light plate casement window on the upper floor at the eastern end.
